A pharmacist, when filling a prescription under the Medicaid program, shall fill such prescription utilizing the most cost-efficient dosage, consistent with the prescription of a prescribing practitioner as defined in section 20-571, unless such pharmacist receives permission to do otherwise pursuant to the prior authorization requirements set forth in sections 17b-274 and 17b-491a.
