(a) The Board of Directors of the State Museum of Natural History shall consist of the following: The Commissioners of Education, Energy and Environmental Protection, Economic and Community Development and Agriculture, or their designees, and not more than eleven members appointed by the president of The University of Connecticut, of which seven shall be professors, at least one from each of the following fields: Anthropology or archaeology, geology, vertebrate biology, invertebrate biology, botany, systematic biology and any other field the president deems appropriate. The terms of one-third of the initial appointments shall expire one year after the date of such appointment; the terms of one-third shall expire two years after the date of such appointment and the terms of one-third shall expire three years after the date of such appointment. The president shall appoint members to succeed members whose terms expire. Such members shall serve for a term of three years. Members shall be eligible for reappointment.

(b) The board shall annually elect a chairman and other officers.

P.A. 03-6 and P.A. 04-20 replaced the State Historical Commission with the Connecticut Commission on Arts, Tourism, Culture, History and Film, effective August 20, 2003, and replaced Commissioner of Agriculture with Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective July 1, 2004; P.A. 04-189 repealed Sec. 146 of June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004; P.A. 04-205, effective June 3, 2004, and May Sp. Sess. P.A. 04-2, effective May 12, 2004, both replaced Connecticut Commission on Arts, Tourism, Culture, History and Film with Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism (Revisor's note: The word “State” was added editorially by the Revisors re “State Museum of Natural History” for consistency); P.A. 11-48 amended Subsec. (a) to replace director of the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism with Commissioner of Economic and Community Development as a board member, effective July 1, 2011; pursuant to P.A. 11-80, “Commissioner of Environmental Protection” was changed editorially by the Revisors to “Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection”, effective July 1, 2011.
