(1) It is unlawful for any person to camp on land or water located in a state park or state recreation area unless the area is so designated and posted pursuant to rule of the commission. Any person who violates this subsection (1) is guilty of a class 2 petty offense and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of one hundred dollars.

(2) A person who occupies an area designated for camping without having obtained a valid permit for the campsite is guilty of a class 2 petty offense and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine equal to five times the cost of a permit for the campsite.
