(1) In counties of every class, the board of county commissioners may provide for additional compensation by agreement between the county surveyor and the board of county commissioners to be paid to the county surveyor who performs services for the county in addition to the duties specified in section 30-10-903, which compensation shall be paid out of the county treasury.

  1. The board of county commissioners may authorize any material and equipment necessary for the performance of any of the duties of the county surveyor; but, the material and equipment so provided shall not be used for any purpose other than to perform the duties of the county surveyor.

  2. A county surveyor and any of his deputies may engage in private survey practice, ifsuch private practice does not interfere with the performance of their official duties.

  3. Except as provided in section 30-10-906, no county surveyor nor any of his deputiesshall accept any remuneration other than that provided by the board of county commissioners for the performance of any act required as part of his official duties.

  4. While engaged in an act necessary to the performance of his official duties, no county surveyor nor any of his deputies shall perform any act not directly related to his official duties.
