(1) There is hereby created in the department of public health and environment a pollution prevention advisory board for the purposes of providing overall policy guidance, coordination, and advice to the department on pollution prevention activities and for carrying out the duties specified in section 25-16.5-105. The advisory board shall consist of fifteen members to be appointed by the governor. The members appointed shall include representatives of businesses, agriculture, environmental groups, academic institutions of higher education, community groups, and local governments. In addition, the governor shall appoint two representatives from state agencies to serve as ex-officio members of the advisory board, with at least one of such appointees to be from the department of public health and environment. In making the appointments, the governor shall provide for geographic diversity. The board shall elect its own chairperson.
Members of the advisory board shall serve without compensation.
