In connection with its powers and duties concerning the protection of the forest lands of the state from fire, the division may cooperate and coordinate with the United States forest service, the United States secretary of the interior, the United States secretary of agriculture, the state board of land commissioners, and the counties for such protection and may advise and aid in preventing forest fires on state and private lands in the national forests in the state, including coordinating with the United States secretary of the interior and the United States secretary of agriculture to develop management plans for federal lands within the state of Colorado pursuant to 16 U.S.C. sec. 530, 16 U.S.C. sec. 1604, and 43 U.S.C. sec. 1712; but nothing contained in this section shall be construed as transferring to the division the duties or responsibilities of the sheriffs of the various counties with respect to forest fire control laws.
