As used in this part 1, unless the context otherwise requires:

  1. "Department" means the department of education created and existing pursuant tosection 24-1-115.

  2. "Eligible student" means a student enrolled in a high school who is a low-incomestudent, as defined in 20 U.S.C. sec. 9832, and who is planning to take one or more advanced placement exams or international baccalaureate exams.

(2.5) "Exam" means an advanced placement exam or an international baccalaureate exam.

  1. "Grant program" means the accelerated college opportunity exam fee grant programcreated in section 22-95.5-102.

  2. "High school" means any public school that serves grades nine through twelve andhas one or more students who plan to take an exam.

  3. "State board" means the state board of education created and existing pursuant tosection 1 of article IX of the state constitution.
