(1) The department of education shall have the following duties regarding the second chance program:

  1. To notify all school districts of the procedures to be followed in processing applications from eligible students;

  2. To gather information on participating schools and advertise the program to potentially eligible students and their parents;

  3. To receive enrollment information and audit the students and schools participating inthe program;

  4. To provide assistance as requested to participating school districts, schools, students,and parents;

  5. To hear appeals of disputes arising between participating school districts, schools,students, and parents. (f) Repealed.
