As used in this part 3, unless the context otherwise requires:
"Board of cooperative services" or "BOCES" means a board of cooperative servicescreated pursuant to article 5 of this title 22.
"Charter school" means a district charter school authorized pursuant to part 1 ofarticle 30.5 of this title 22 or an institute charter school authorized pursuant to part 5 of article 30.5 of this title 22.
"Department" means the department of education created and operating pursuant tosection 24-1-115.
"Institute" means the state charter school institute established pursuant to section 22-
30.5-503.
"School district" means a school district, other than a local college district, organizedand existing as provided by law.
