(1) A municipal judge shall have the same qualifications as a county judge in a Class D county, as set forth in section 13-6-203 (3).
Preference shall be given by the municipal governing body, when possible, to theappointment of a municipal judge who is licensed to practice law in Colorado or who is trained in the law.
The municipal governing body may appoint a county judge in a Class C or D county,as defined in section 13-6-203, to serve as a municipal judge.
The municipal governing body may require that the municipal judge be a qualifiedelector of the municipality or the county in which the municipality is located.
