(1) Nothing contained in this article 285 prohibits:
The practice of physical therapy by students enrolled in an accredited physical therapy or physical therapist assistant program and performing under the direct supervision of a physical therapist currently licensed in this state;
The practice of physical therapy in this state by any legally qualified physical therapist from another state or country whose employment requires the physical therapist to accompany and care for a patient temporarily residing in this state, but the physical therapist shall not provide physical therapy services for any other individuals nor shall the person represent or hold himself or herself out as a physical therapist licensed to practice in this state;
The administration of massage, external baths, or exercise that is not a part of aphysical therapy regimen;
Any person registered, certified, or licensed in this state under any other law fromengaging in the practice for which the person is registered, certified, or licensed;
The practice of physical therapy in this state by a legally qualified physical therapistfrom another state or country when providing services in the absence of a physical therapist licensed in this state, so long as the unlicensed physical therapist is acting in accordance with rules established by the board. A person shall not practice without a license under this subsection (1)(e) for more than four weeks' duration or more than once in any twelve-month period.
The practice of physical therapy in this state by a legally qualified physical therapistfrom another state or country for the purpose of participating in an educational program of not more than sixteen weeks' duration;
The provision of physical therapy services in this state by an individual from anothercountry who is engaged in a physical therapy-related educational program if the program is sponsored by an institution, agency, or individual approved by the board, the program is under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist licensed in this state, and the program does not exceed twelve consecutive months' duration without the specific approval of the board;
The practice of any physical therapist licensed in this state or any other state or territory of the United States who is employed by the United States government or any bureau, division, or agency thereof while within the course and scope of the physical therapist's official duties.
