Licensing of foreign-trained applicants.

(1) Every foreign-trained applicant for licensing shall:

  1. Have received education and training in physical therapy substantially equivalent tothe education and training required at accredited physical therapy programs in the United States;

  2. Possess an active, valid license in good standing or other authorization to practicephysical therapy from an appropriate authority in the country where the foreign-trained applicant is practicing or has practiced;

  3. Pass a written examination approved by the board in accordance with section 12-285-

110 (1)(b);

(d) Submit an application in the form and manner designated by the director; and (e) Pay an application fee in an amount determined by the director.

  1. Upon receipt of all documents required by subsection (1) of this section, the directorshall review the application and determine if the applicant is qualified to be licensed.

  2. When the applicant has fulfilled all requirements of subsection (1) of this section, theboard shall issue a license to the applicant; except that the board may deny the application if the applicant has committed an act that would be grounds for disciplinary action under section 12285-120.

Licenses issued pursuant to this article 285 are subject to the renewal, expiration, reinstatement, and delinquency fee provisions specified in section 12-20-202 (1) and (2). A person whose license has expired is subject to the penalties provided in this article 285 and section 12-20-202 (1).
