(1) An individual is dead if:

  1. The individual has sustained irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions; or

  2. The individual has sustained irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain,including the brain stem.

(2) A determination of death under this section shall be in accordance with accepted medical standards.
