While recognizing that the rendering of acupuncture services is not part of the traditional practice of western medicine, it is the intent of the general assembly that those citizens who wish to obtain acupuncture services be allowed to do so and, in addition, that those citizens have available certain information to assist them in making informed choices when seeking acupuncture services. It is also the intent of the general assembly that the providers or practitioners of acupuncture should not misrepresent their qualifications, harm their clients, practice in an unhealthy manner, or otherwise deceive insurers or the recipients of acupuncture services.
