(a) A community paramedicine pilot program approved under the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development’s Health Workforce Pilot Project No. 173 before January 1, 2020, is authorized to operate until one year after the regulations described in Section 1830 become effective.

(b) Notwithstanding subdivision (a), a community paramedicine short-term, post-discharge followup pilot program that was approved on or before January 1, 2019, under the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development’s Health Workforce Pilot Project No. 173, and was continuing to enroll patients as of January 1, 2019, may continue operation until January 1, 2024. The authority shall seek federal funding or funding from private sources to support the continued operation of the post-discharge programs described in this subdivision. As part of any annual reports submitted in 2022 and 2023, the authority shall include in its annual report to the Legislature, as required by Section 1833, an analysis of the post-discharge followup pilot programs operating pursuant to this subdivision.
