Section 45-45-233.26
Legislative intent.
It is the intent of the Legislature that the provisions of this subpart pertaining to pretrial release shall be a guide to judicial officers in Madison County, as defined herein, to insure that no person be needlessly detained in the county because of his or her personal economic circumstances so long as his or her release shall not be contrary to the public interest and also shall serve the purpose of assuring the defendant’s presence at the trial. It is not the intent of the Legislature that this subpart be so liberally construed as to allow the indiscriminate release of accused persons.
